Dawesome Hate is a new innovative distortion plugin that generates its multitude of facets from a combination of wavetables and modifiers.
Synthesizer players love delays and reverb, while guitarists adore distortion effects. However, distortion hasn’t been a guitar-only thing for a long time. Plugins like the United Plugins Cyberdrive or Arturia Coldfire demonstrate that distortion has also arrived in electronic music, and they are more versatile than ever.
Dawesome, one of the most innovative developers of the last years, has released Hate, an exciting new distortion plugin that takes the classic effect in new multifaceted directions.
Dawesome Hate
Hate is a new innovative distortion plugin for macOS and Windows. The innovative thing about Dawesome Hate is the engine that generates the distortions in real-time. It’s not a traditional overdrive/distortion algorithm but it uses wavetables.
You can choose from a list of preset wavetable-based distortions out of the box. Each distortion can be modified using various parameters, including drive, auto gain, slice, flat, edge, warp, image, and more. Indeed, these are features for modifying wavetables that are familiar to wavetable synths and editors.
That’s not all. The Hate also allows you to drag and drop any audio file into the wavetable engine, transforming it into a custom saturation shape. This allows you to create infinite distortion timbres, from gentle to aggressive, wild, and experimental.
It’s a fascinating concept, but Dawesome didn’t stop here with Hate. The plugin also offers six slots to stack up to six different effects. 29 different distortion modules are available to manipulate the actual wavetable distortion further.
Among the 29 modules, you can find bit-crusher, multimode filter, saturator, atari punk-style distortion, raspator, vowel FX, OTT, delay, granular processor, and more. Each module is fully customizable with various parameters. There is no modulation onboard.
To get it started, it ships with numerous presets that showcase the plugin’s capabilities.
First Impression
We have many traditional distortions—even every DAW ships with at least one. Hate is a completely new take compared to these. With Hate, Dawesome now has a distortion plugin in its growing portfolio that is a true playground for deep distortion tone explorations. Excellent release.
Dawesome Hate is available now for an introductory price of 39€ instead of 65€ (40% OFF). It runs as a VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on macOS (Intel + native Apple Silicon) and Windows. The Tracktion website offers a 90-day unlimited trial.
