Yes, you heard that right! Dear Reality was recently acquired by Sennheiser and is ceasing operations under its brand, giving away all its plugins for free.
Dear Reality is known for its high-quality spatialization, ambisonics, resynthesis, and reverb plugins, among other things. The plugins have been known to be pricy, but for good reason, and now they’re available for free.
I recently said that these are great times to be a music producer on a budget. Well, it just got even better!
The obvious downside to this whole ordeal is that the plugins will not be supported or updated after July 31st, 2025.
Hopefully, the developer team will continue making great software together with Sennheiser in the future.
To acquire the plugins, you must sign up for the Sennheiser newsletter. Several people have reported that the system seems to be bogged down and that they have not received their emails even after hours of waiting.

Let’s look at some of the offerings like the flagship dearVR PRO2. This plugin is a spatializer for stereo, multichannel, or ambisonics.
Place your sound in a virtual space through an intuitive XY-pad and simulate distance and movements with the additional controls. dearVR PRO2 also boasts a powerful reverb engine to make the simulated spaces even more lifelike.
If you’re tired of volume-based panning, perhaps this psychoacoustic powerhouse can inspire you.
Next up is EXOVERB, which employs a large amount of synthesized impulse responses with some additional spatial trickery.
While this might sound daunting, the UI is incredibly intuitive and straight to the point. Choose a reverb sound and start tweaking.
The main control is a triangular pad that changes the balance between early and late reflections and the dry and wet levels. You also get standard controls like pre-delay, size, width, decay, and depth, but that isn’t all.
EXOVERB lets you EQ the entire sound and the early and late reflections separately with filters, taking micromanagement to an entirely different level. This is the plugin for crafting atmospheres and rooms with surgical precision.
The plugin MIYA is not a spatializing effect but rather a re-synthesizer that uses wavelet distortion to replace the input signal at selected zero crossings. Or something like that – I’m neither a mathematician nor a coder, but it sounds good with an easily operated UI.
MIYA seems like the right tool if you want a different kind of saturator for subtle enhancement, to destroy a sound completely, or to add texture and an entirely new personality to anything from acoustic instruments or synths.
